While the details are not certain, it is looking likely that I will be working out of Baton Rouge, LA for the next several months in support of the “Road Home” project. I could be leaving as early as Tuesday, the 18th of July. So far, I am not really sure about the accomodations or the working conditions - whether or not I will have a car, etc. I am hoping to do some travelling in the area - but this might prove difficult as the hours are reportedly going to be very long. They are going to fly me back home on the weekends, so the garden should still be somewhat under control. I fear that there will be an awful lot of tomatoes that I am going to miss out on, however. Ahh well.
More details to come as they become available.

I have a whole bunch of these little guys growing on two separate watermelon vines. This is the largest, about half the size of a golf ball. Others are marble sized or smaller… all of them just started to show up last week. I am uber-excited!
In addition to the watermelons, I have a bunch of tomatoes that are in development, I have harvested two modest zuchini, Two quite impressive cucumbers with more on the way, and it should not be long until I start to harvest a peck or two of peppers.
Cuccumbers and Peppers are going to get pickled, along with some onions that I am growning, and I am also going to try my luck with pickling zuchini. I have basil that is really starting to take off, as well as cilantro - and plan on bottling some tomatoe sauce as well. Fun times. All this rain has made it really easy to take care of the plants, although I fear that an insect infestation is starting to take place.
Lots of work, lots of worry, but lots of fun.
