This photo has gotten a whole bunch of attention of flickr… I uploaded it early yesterday, and it has been hovering around the #2 most interesting photo on Flickr for March 15th, 2006. I don’t know how long it will last there… but I am still pretty darn proud. You can view Flickr’s Interestingness collections based on the calendar here. For this photo, check out March 15th. In general, it is a really good place to go looking for great - striking - crazy - and all around interesting photos. I suggest checking out what was most interesting on your birthday, or other big days.
Here are some other things that have caught my attention as of late - because of their ‘interestingness‘:
Capsaicin, the stuff that turns up the heat in jalapeƱos, not only causes the tongue to burn, it also drives prostate cancer cells to kill themselves. Cancer: If you can’t take the heat, get out of the prostrate.
A new ocean is forming on the continent of Africa… I formally request it be named it “Squishy”. BBC has the story.
A plague of butterflys will descend upon the houses of all who oppose us. The Pentagon has plans to create insects that are remote controlled, and it looks as though butterfly’s are the critter of choice. Get the story here.
At long last, nano-technology is finally being used for something useful. We can all rest easier knowing that little Timmy’s blind hamster can now be given the chance to see. Personally I would have spent the money trying to cure blindness in people as opposed to animals that retail for $5.99… but hey. What can you do. Gotta be happy for the hamsters.
Bacteria - they aren’t just for the stomach flu anymore:
Scientists to develop bacteria-powered fuel cells.
Are you happy with your DNA? Is your DNA happy? Scientists can now use DNA to make tiny little shapes and pictures, like Smily Faces… Which opens up a whole new world for the anti-depressant therapy market.
And if you are up for a bit of brain excercise, I found a fun online game where you play with shapes.

If it was a concert, we were front row, just to the left of center. If it were a movie, then we were in that perfect spot about 10 rows back, with no one dead-ahead to spoil the view. It was niether, of course… it was just a really close up view of the Capitol builiding from Kelly’s roof. Kelly, Tom and I went photo-geeking in DC last night, and I have posted my pics from the adventure to my flickr account. I know… I know… I haven’t even posted pics from my vacation yet. It takes a while to get them tweaked. Shots of snow are suprisingly difficult to get right.
If you haven’t already, why not take a tour of mars…
Simpsons Fans will likely find this clip from Conan O’Brien quite trippy - VO folks from the simpsons gabbing it up with Conan.
And here is the background story about Google Hiring a 15 year old, which turned out to be a 15 year old doing some SEO research and fooling Google News.
Oh, and Beware the Ides of March.

This is both an admition that I have been slacking on the blog since getting back, and a reminder to myself to blog about the trip. I admit I have been slacking. Oh… and don’t forget, eh?
