Congress and the right wing ‘powers that be’ are about to drastically cut funding to PBS and NPR, what I consider to be the last bastions of decency in these United States. Alright, the latter half of that statement is crap - but the first part is totally true and it is really urgent that you do something…
Here is a link to http://www.moveon.org, who has a petition to congress opposing these massive cuts to public broadcasting. Please sign the petition… Maybe call your senator or your representative, and give them your opinion on this. Public television matters. NPR matters. Ernie and Bert Matter. Please take a few minutes to do something about this.

Ultrasupergenius Family Portrait 1
Wags, my stuffed animal (and lifetime friend) to the left, a chest of treasures to the right, and the homish folk-art doll I recently acquired in the background (with a striking resemblence to the ultrasupergenius icon)…

This is a test shot from my new 120 pinhole camera… I am close to completing the new pinhole camera, which will take medium format 120 film (color or B&W). This test shot was taken using photo paper as film, developed and scanned into photoshop, and reversed. So far, the clarity and detail in these test shots is even better than I was expecting. I should be shooting some color film some time soon, and will probably run some B&W through the camera as well - because I can develop that film here at home (I will have to send the color film out for processing). I am Uber-Excited!!

I started to upload my photos from my semester abroad in Ecuador… and the travels that I did down there on the weekends. Actually, I have about 90% photos of my travels, and only a few pictures of Guayaquil, where I was going to school. This shot is from a “train” journey I took through the Andes and part of the amazon (this train was an old diesel bus with train wheelie-deelies for wheels…). As time permits, I am going to be adding some captions and telling stuff on my flickr account. Feel free to stop by, comment, and poke and prod me into adding the captions. Thanks.

I went to buy a bottle of wine this weekend. The cashier rang it up, and the register made the beep sounds for “Check ID”. She took one glance up at me, and then immediately hit some keys while saying “You’re OK”.
My response to her was “Well, I guess that just about does it for my boyish good looks”…
To which she replied “No, its not that… it’s this” while making the “Beard Gesture” with her hands. Then she said “No teenibopper is going to have that much scruff… well - maybe some, but I can tell you are good.”
I am still walking on sunshine about that comment. I had given up on my chances of ever growing a full beard a while ago - and now they are back in full force. As a matter of fact, they are back with a vengence. I have updated my goals to include competing in the international Beard Games. It won’t be long until I join my peers in the beard and mustache hall of fame. Afterall, could a Safeway checkout clerk possibly be wrong?
