Australian Cabernet Shiraz

Published by didj under Vitner's Notes

Selection International Wine Series Premium Wine kit (15 liters (4 Gallons) Sterile Juice and Concentrate).

  • Starting Specific Gravity 1.110 (!)
  • 1/3 Gallon boiled Annandale, VA tap water added to carbouy to dissolve Bentonite
  • 1/3 Gallon Brita filtered Annandale, VA tap water added
  • Premier Cuvee Active Dry Wine Yeast used
  • Cylinder Lock 2 piece Airlock Utilized
Not a lot of extra liquid added to this one… and it shows in the SG. While the yield will be smaller than previous batches, I hope to make up for it with a high alcohol content and some really pronounced flavors. I love a good Cab Shiraz. I hope this will be a great one.

    it’s the new style…

Announcing the redesign of my blog… something that I have wanted to do for a while now. I haven’t been bloging for quite some time - basically once those rat-bastard spammers started hitting my comments. Very upsetting stuff. So I did a little bit of research (a very little bit - b/c I hit a great site on my first visit… Combat Comment Spam ). That site has some great information on tweaking wordpress to allude spammers, and a whole bunch of links for plugins and the like. The main change that I made (that I think is doing some real good) is to change the number of hyper-links that can be included in comments. The default in Wordpress is 5 - something that the spammers take advatage of… They like to get alot of links in. I dropped that number down to 1, so if you want to include more than one link in a comment, be patient - I will have to approve it manually. Also, I added a bunch of words to the spam-words list (like poker, and prescriptions)… and will be tweaking that as I go along… Long story short, if your comment does not show up immediately, I will approve it as soon as I can. And I highly recommend checking out the site mentioned above - wordpress has some pretty fancy settings that you can play around with, and tamba (or is it Podz?) does a great job explaining them (and is a super nice person to boot - thanks again!). So happy blogging folks, and I hope to see y’all real soon.
